Optimization of the Particularly Protected Natural Territory (PPNT) system should become a priority in conservation of large predators and ungulates and it should be accompanied with series of additional measures from which the following ones need to be specified: 1. Establishment of ecological corridors with favorable economic use regime (between Khasansky district of the RF and DPRK through Jilin province, China; between Southern and Northern Laoelin, Heilongjiang, China; between the RF and China on the Strelnikov ridge; between Tolson Hulstai and Kerulen-Mengin PPNT, Mongolia); 2. Forest regeneration, first of all in the region of projected ecological corridors, and intensifying of firefighting activity; 3. Realization of actions for increasing ungulate species number (development of deer farms network, which will become a source of additional food supply for tiger and leopard); 4. Building of the leopard and tiger population and maintenance of it in captivity for their possible subsequent reintroduction; 5. Reinforcement of anti-poaching activity, customs and boundary control over legal and illegal movement of the CITES-listed species; 6. Organization of effective count and monitoring system of the species, which are threatened with extinction. |
